WNBA midseason grades: Lynx, Mercury off to superb starts while Sun, Wings stumble out the gate
Before the games begin again, here's a look at where all 13 teams stand with CBS Sports' midseason grades. The Dream limped into the All-Star break. They lost five of their last eight games and Rhyne Howard was ruled out until August after hyperextending her knee in a defeat to the Fever.
Ogunbowale, who is second on the Wings in scoring, stepped up big time to lead Dallas to the 87-63 victory against Seattle. She scored 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting, while adding three rebounds, three assists and one steal. With her performance, the 28-year-old guard was recognized by the WNBA as the Top Performer of the game.
They’re getting a boost Tuesday night with the return of DiJonai Carrington, who has been out for the last nine games with a rib injury. She last played on June 20, but is available against the Seattle Storm.
The 26-year-old started her WNBA career with the Indiana Fever as the team’s seventh overall pick in the 2023 draft. Berger got the chance to play alongside Caitlin Clark in the latter’s rookie campaign last year, averaging 2.8 points and 1.4 rebounds in 9.3 minutes per game.
