Boeing used a new method of spotting potential hazards known as "fault tree analysis," where engineers could easily see the impact of a failure of one part or system on other parts. The 747 became the first airplane to use this accurate method of forecasting possible trouble.
The 747-8 has new high bypass ratio engines, GEnx 2B, which are the quiet and efficient GEnx engines developed for the 787 aircraft.
The 747-400 is a wide body, four engine airplane designed for long range operation at high payloads. The maximum range is approximately 8100 nautical miles (with horizontal stabilizer fuel tank).
This Operations Manual has been prepared by Boeing Commercial Airplanes Group, Customer Services Division. The purpose of this manual is to: • provide operating limitations, procedures, performance, and systems information the flight crew needs to safely and efficiently operate the 747-400 airplane during all anticipated airline operations
The 747-200B is an extended-range passenger version of the basic 747-100 series aircraft. The exterior geometry of the 747-200B is identical to the 747-100 and aircraft systems are essentially unchanged except for differences resulting from changes outlined below.

On Saturday 20 February 2021, a Boeing 747-400 encountered a contained engine failure during the initial climb out from Runway 21 at Maastricht Aachen Airport in the Netherlands. The engine failure caused parts of the engine to exit the tail pipe of the engine and to come down in the village of Meerssen, which is located approximately 2

There are multiple reasons why it is necessary to perform an Engine Ground Run (EGR) whether on the Line or following Base Maintenance Operations. At AETS-Sofema, our specially designed Engine Ground Running training contains both theoretical and practical sessions.
OVERVIEW: The following list of items have been accumulated from the aircraft manufacturers published limitations and requirements for operating the 737 aircraft. Limitations that vary by specific airframe type are listed according to their airframe version (600, 700, etc.)
The engines on a Boeing 747 aircraft are mounted to pylons located on the underside of each wing. The pylons transmit thrust from the engine to the airframe and are designed to withstand flight loads from normal operation along with transient dynamic loading in …
Thanks to the launch of the 787, one enabler necessary for the 747-8 was in place – a new and improved engine (see Figure 2). Fig. 2. The GEnX Engine This would improve both community noise and operating cost, but would not be enough to launch a new 747 derivative.
During landing roll-out at New Tokyo International Airport at Narita, Japan, the No. 1 engine of a Northwestern Airlines Boeing 747-251B detached from its wing mounts and struck the runway.
