Crazy Horse is best known for fighting against George Armstrong Custer at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. This monument was likely inspired by the Mount Rushmore Monument. Korczak Ziolkowski had previously worked on the Mount Rushmore monument under Gutzon Borglum.
