South Dakota Mines has recently rebranded. The graphic components of our signature logo system are: the M logomark, the university wordmark, the university tagline and the South Dakota Mines color palette.

The South Dakota Mines logo should always be surrounded by a minimum area of space. The area of isolation ensures that headlines, text or other visual elements do not encroach on the logo. The area is defined by using half of the height of the “M” mark in the South Dakota Mines logo.

Our new logo is a contemporary reimagining of our classic M and is inspired by the transformational story behind South Dakota Mines from a mining school to a top-tier engineering and science university.

South Dakota Mines does a really great job of letting you customize your major. In addition to your major courses, you have senior electives where you get to pick and choose what specialties you like.
