1.9K reactions · 158 shares | There are several ways to scour wool before spinning. Without modern soap, you can use the suint method, or scour with ammonia. Both methods include fermentation - and ammonia is made by fermenting urine! We decided not to share those smells with our guests, and here we are simply using hot water to rid the wool of some lanolin and dirt.
