3VT is an excellent plane to pick up a transposition of the great arteries (TGA)- a cyanotic heart lesion we do not want to miss! Visualization of two vessels in the 3VT plane (SVC and a single great vessel of normal size) suggests the possibility of TGA. In general, the aorta is the great vessel that is typically visualized, and the pulmonary artery is not visualized, situated posterior to the aorta. Let us know if you liked this post!
