Tonight sees the 76th BAFTA awards ceremony live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Back in 1949, the first British Academy Film Awards ceremony took place in London. Sir Laurence Olivier picked up Best Picture, and also collected a couple of Oscars while he was at it. | BBC Archive
