The Brown-throated sloth (Bradypus variegatus) descending to the ground from the canopy. Brown-throated three-toed sloths descend from the canopy to defecate and urinate on the ground every 3 to 8 days. The three-toed sloth has a green appearance from the symbiotic relationship it has with algae, this supports a whole ecosystem including small creatures such has mites and moths.
