Seattle firefighters recently utilized a residential structure in south Seattle provided by Blackwood Homes to conduct technical rescue training. The scenario simulated a car vs. building impact with a partial collapse, injuring the vehicle occupants and people inside the home. Firefighters were required to stabilize the structure and extricate the victims from the vehicle and the collapsed home. At 10:23 a.m., Seattle Fire Department’s Fire Alarm Center received a call reporting a fire in a residential building. Crews arrived on scene to a kitchen fire contained to a unit in an apartment building. They got water on the fire putting it out within minutes. Crews searched the structure and checked for extension then began ventilation and demobilization. No injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. | Seattle Fire Department
