This explains so much about why we feel the way we do walking down Main Street USA 🥹None of these concepts are my own, they are all from Imagineer John Hench as described in an article in New West magazine in 1978. Hench thought deeply about the psychological meaning of Disneyland and how it impacts guests in meaningful ways. “Main Street, of course, has the Victorian feeling, which is probably one of the great optimistic periods of the world, where we thought progress was great and we all knew

That Mowgli costume though 😳 When Disney decided they wanted to design their own costumes instead of renting the Ice Capades ones (which had leased the rights to the characters for the show), some of the characters were a challenge. As Imagineer John Hench put it, “It is actually astonishing that Mickey held his identity. While he was right, he probably could have said this in a kinder way 🙈Though a bit of a hard taskmaster, John Hench was a master at color theory in the Disney parks. To explain the importance of color, Katie Olson said, “This one aspect of design spills over every tangible visual cue to the guest. If the color doesn’t reinforce the time and place that a theme park is trying to present to the guest, then you have lost your audience without their even realizing it.” John Hench himself stated, “Co

☀️ The late great Disney Legend and Walt Disney Imagineer alum John Hench once said of Disney's California Adventure Park, “I liked it better as a parking lot." I have to agree, I mean what is there to say about DCA in its infancy? Other than the name "Disney’s" in its original naming, it was a park that was devoid of anything Disney, the complete antithesis to its neighbor across the way, Disneyland. There was no storytelling in its land and no classic Disney characters meeting and greeting gue

I wonder if someday the imagineers could restore this lovely little detail to the castle courtyard 🦅💜 For the Viollet-le-Duc spire, it’s said that author Ray Bradbury once returned from a trip to Disneyland and called imagineer John Hench and asked why Walt put it there, John simply replied, “Because he loved it.” And then Ray said, “That’s why I love Walt Disney. It cost hundred thousand dollars to build a spire you don’t need, eh? The secret of Disney is doing things you don’t need and doing

Disney History on Instagram: "Destino was a project the Disney studio began in 1945 but didn’t complete until 2003. The surrealist short film was a collaboration between Salvador Dalí and Walt Disney. Dalí worked closely with Disney Legend John Hench to create sketches, storyboards, sequences, and background paintings, but the project was eventually shelved. Decades later, Destino was finally completed thanks to the efforts of Walt’s nephew, Roy E. Disney."

Mickey's detached demeanor during interviews raises questions. Was his reaction to the crime scene genuine, or a calculated performance? Some believe he anticipated special treatment in Letcher County jail and that his actions were premeditated. Watch for the moments when he slips up. #Mickey #CrimeScene #Investigation #Premeditated #Performance | Hillbilly Crime
