This is what HENDON used to look like: Long ago before the modern housing area was built, Hendon was one of the most scenic and romantic locations in Sunderland, a popular resort for Victorian Holidaygoers. This area, running from Backhouse Park, past Ryhope Road down to Hendon Valley Road, was known as the Valley of Love, where the Hendon burn stream ran unimpeded into the sea. | SGM: North East News
